Man convicted of shooting another in attempted robbery
A Hampton man was convicted Tuesday, May 6, of shooting another man during an attempted robbery that left the victim with a gunshots wounds to the legs, breaking one leg.
Judge Christopher Papile convicted Deandre Greene of attempted robbery, malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit robbery, and four related weapons charges. Greene shot Christopher Anthony on November 21, 2023, about eight months after Greene was released from incarceration for a previous malicious wounding conviction.
Greene and Jaylin Harris had gone to Anthony’s home to rob him of prescription pain medication. During the robbery, Greene and Harris shot Anthony striking him in the legs and lower torso. Harris pled guilty to malicious wounding and one weapons charge. Cell phone location data also corroborated Anthony’s testimony about Greene’s presence at his house.
Judge Papile is scheduled to sentence Greene on August 22, 2025. He is facing at least 15 years of incarceration.
