Former Navy member sentenced for sexual assault

A former Navy member was sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting three children some of whom he babysat for other servicemembers.

Joshua Ray, 41, was active with the Navy at the time and used his job to meet others who might allow him to babysit their children. He was convicted of two counts of sodomy of a child under 13 and one count of attempted sodomy of a child under 13. Judge Christopher Papile noted that the victims were particularly vulnerable due to intellectual disabilities and difficult home conditions.

Ray is also facing federal charges for possession of child pornography.
