Demetrius  Joyner robbed a cash advance store on June 23, 2010.  Mr. Joyner entered the store with duct tape and a plastic bag and demanded money from the clerk.  After taking the cash located on the premises, Mr. Joyner took the clerk to the back of the store.  The victim testified that she believed Mr. Joyner was going to bind her with the duct tape and put the bag over her head.  To prevent this, she told him that she heard someone coming in the store, which caused Mr. Joyner to run.  On March 6, 2013, Judge H. Vincent Conway, Jr. accepted the jury’s recommendation and sentenced Mr. Joyner to eight and a half years on charges of robbery and abduction.
